Attorney Daniel Witz

Daniel is the founder of Witz Inc. Attorneys and head of the Criminal Law Department at Witz Inc.

Daniel is an entrepreneur at heart, and having worked at some of the most prestigious firms in Johannesburg including ENS, he formed what is now known as Witz Inc. in 2012. Daniel practices both Criminal and Commercial Law and has represented several high profile clients in the course of his career at Witz Inc. He works as a defence attorney in both the Magistrate’s and High Courts.

Daniel also has substantial Commercial Law practice and assists his clients in high level mergers and acquisitions, due diligence reviews, corporate restructuring, general Commercial Law and the drafting of a wide range of commercial agreements.

Daniel Witz has a LLB degree along with Advanced Company Law I and II, Advanced Competition Law and an Advanced Diploma in International Tax. He is also an Associate Member of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property.

He has developed a valuable and unique skill set both in terms of his legal knowledge and the experience that he has gained throughout his career. He uses these in conjunction with his critical reasoning, analytical, management and problem-solving skills to ensure that his clients are always well protected, and receive the very best legal experience.

Competition Law in South Africa

The Competition Act 89 of 1998 in South Africa, also referred to as Antitrust Law prohibits anti-competitive behaviour including price-fixing, cartel conduct, bid-rigging collusion and monopolies. The Act not only focuses on competition issues but also champions consumer protection, black economic empowerment and promotes small business by ensuring minimum barrier to entry.

The Competition Act is also applicable and permission is required for certain mergers and acquisitions. Our legal team is able to advise and assist clients with all aspects relating to Competition Law in South Africa.
